Some of My Slides For 2000 Plains Conference

The computer preform is created from a slice of a real preform. It is a 2-d model. The 7mm one is unfluted and the 5mm one is fluted on one side.
Here are some of the definitions I use.
The two red flakes on the left are created in the slow mode. The rest are fast flakes. These are the same flakes described in the next slide.
The area where the full length flakes are created, I call the "sweet spot". There is a sweet spot in the slow range, below the red line, for the 7mm preform but not the 5mm. This is a diagram from the 5mm preform. This slow sweet spot opens up along the feather-overshot line as does the fast one. The fast one is always much larger.
